Influence of Sodium and Iodide Ions on the Transformation of Metaphasic Silver Iodide into the Crystalline Silver Iodide
The influence of constitutive (Agl, lions) and nonconstitutive (Na+ ions) components of silver iodide hydrosols on the transformation rate of metaphasic silver iodide into crystalline silver iodide is studied. The simultaneous change of Agl, l ions, and Na+ ions concentrations causes a complex change of the value of the constant k, (which is proportional to the aggregation rate constant k 2). W...
متن کاملThe Heat Capacity of Solid Aliphatic Crystals: II.
In the preceding issue of these PROCZEDINGS, the fact of characteristic frequencies for non-polar bonds was introduced into the Born-Karman heat capacity equations, which were then, with certain approximations, brought into a general simplified form for non-polar compounds.' With the aid of these simplified equations, the heat capacities of some organic solids will now be. calculated and compar...
متن کاملNegative heat capacity and non-extensive kinetic theory
The negative nature of the heat capacity CV of thermodynamically isolated self-gravitating systems is rediscussed in the framework of a non-extensive kinetic theory. It is found that the dependence of CV on the non-extensive parameter q gives rise to a negative branch with the critical value corresponding to q = 5/3 (CV → −∞).

Heat capacity in proteins.
Heat capacity (Cp) is one of several major thermodynamic quantities commonly measured in proteins. With more than half a dozen definitions, it is the hardest of these quantities to understand in physical terms, but the richest in insight. There are many ramifications of observed Cp changes: The sign distinguishes apolar from polar solvation. It imparts a temperature (T) dependence to entropy an...
